Today, that process is streamlined thanks to advancements in refrigeration technology. Thanks to the pandemic, Americans are willing to pay more for the frozen options that are available.

According to a study conducted by the USDA, one of the biggest ways to reduce costs associated with food service operations is to improve supply chain management. Improved supply chain management can result in lower transportation costs for perishable goods and it can lead to a decreased need for packaging trucks. This results in both a lower cost for the retailer and a lower cost for the consumer.

Another area that can lead to savings is at the processing plant. Until the pandemic ended, meat processors were having to spend more money on packing and shipping meat products than they were earning in the process. While the costs associated with meat production has certainly lowered, those costs still need to be covered in order for the company to remain profitable. The company has even launched an online store where people can purchase the meats, vegetables, fruits, and other groceries they might need at a fraction of the cost that they would be able to if they visited a typical grocery store. These types of efforts are only a small step towards making grocery stores healthier and lowering the pandemic threat to the American people. It is likely that there will be even greater changes to how food services are managed in the months and years to come.
